Jennifer Hastings of Uniontown part of award-winning soccer team at Muskingum University

2014 Jan 14

Jennifer Hastings of Uniontown is a member of an award-winning women’s soccer team at Muskingum University in New Concord, Ohio.

The women's soccer team was one of only 26 teams in the country to be honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) with the prestigious NSCAA Ethics/Sportsmanship Gold Award for 2013. The Gold Award is regarded as one of the most difficult awards to earn from the NSCAA.

The Muskingum women were the only team from the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) to achieve the Gold Award, which encompasses all National Collegiate Athletic Association divisions, all National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics divisions and all National Junior College Athletic Association divisions.

Muskingum, under the guidance of Head Coach Mary Beth Caudill, has been honored with either the Gold or Silver Award in 12 of the last 15 years. To be recognized with the Gold Award, a team cannot receive any Red Cards or Yellow Cards during the season.

The 2013 season was a memorable one for the team, as they set the school record for best start in program history, set the mark for longest unbeaten streak at home and notched their most wins since 2001.

Furthermore, Coach Caudill won her 100th career game at Marietta College on October 15 to become just the ninth women's soccer coach in OAC history to achieve that milestone.

Muskingum will receive the award at the annual NSCAA Convention on January 16 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
