Muskingum University student Michael Klamo of Pickerington to present research findings on Sochi Olympics

Muskingum University student Michael Klamo of Pickerington will present research findings on the issues facing the 2014 Olympics in Sochi on Friday, December 6 at 6:30 p.m. in room 336 of Boyd Science Center on the campus in New Concord, Ohio.

Titled “Lord of the Five Rings: Issues at The Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics,” the presentation will feature research by Assistant Professor of Political Science Dr. Richard Arnold's Russian Foreign Policy class at Muskingum. Issues to be discussed include the LGBT boycott, the Circassian boycott, the influence of terrorist threats, the role of the Olympics as a way for Russia to return to superpower status, the potential impact of protests against Vladimir Putin, the myriad environmental issues surrounding the Olympics, the role of Russian organized crime and the long-term sustainability of the Olympics.

The presentation is free and open to the public.
